• Special Education

Special education refers to specially designed instruction to meet the individual and unique needs of students.  Students who are eligible to receive special education services qualify under one of the 13 categories identified in IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).  The categories include:

    Autism

    Deaf or Blindness

    Developmental Delays

    Emotional Disturbance

    Hearing Impairments

    Intellectual Disabilities

    Multiple Disabilities

    Orthopedic Impairments

    Other Health Impairments

    Specific Learning Disabilities

    Speech and Language Impairments

    Traumatic Brain Injury

    Visual Impairments

Special education programs should be customized to address the individual needs of a student.  Services are provided through a continuum of services, in which the students receive varying degrees of support based on their individual needs.
